How to Save Money Buying Last Minute Tickets on StubHub

Figuring out what to do any night of the week can be a challenge.  If you’re like me, you sometimes find it difficult to plan for things way in advance because you never know how you will actually feel when the time for the event actually comes up.  As such, you end up doing a lot of last minute “fun” ideas.

Why StubHub?

StubHub can be a great way to get tickets because it is other people that are selling their tickets on StubHub, not companies.  That means that it is just another person somewhere selling the tickets – like eBay.  This can translate into a lot of things.

First, you may be able to get tickets that aren’t available on major sites like Ticketmaster, or even at the box office.  The reason is because the tickets were already bought by the seller, so nobody else can get them unless you buy them on StubHub.

Second, even if the show is “sold out”, you may be able to find tickets on StubHub for the same reason – because it is private sellers selling the tickets.

Ways to Save Last Minute

Because of their unique way of doing business, you have opportunities to save at the last minute.  Say you decide you want to go see a show tomorrow night – well, even if it is sold out, you may be able to find well priced tickets on StubHub.

You never know, maybe someone can no longer go to the event, and they are willing to just get rid of their tickets at any price.  This happens for a variety of reasons – maybe they got sick, had to work, who knows.  Whatever the reason, you can benefit and take advantage of it.

Another way you can save at the last minute is because you don’t have to give in to scalpers or other people trying to over-profit.  StubHub also coordinates delivery and payment for the tickets, so you know that you’re not going to be taken advantage of.  

My Story

I was able to use StubHub for this very scenario earlier this year.  I had some friends coming into town and I didn’t really plan anything because I didn’t know if they would be up to anything after travelling.  However, once they arrived, we were all having a great time and wanted to go see a show.  I was able to quickly pull up StubHub and see that Florence and the Machine was playing at a local club that night, but it was a sold out show.  I was able to go to StubHub and buy Florence and the Machine tickets from another seller, and was able to print out my tickets right then and there.  We were able to go to the show that same night, and we all had a great time.  It was quick, easy, and I felt confident that I was getting legitimate tickets buying online from StubHub.
